Slowly I Step... Step By Step

You are on time if you are five minutes early, your late if you are on time. I think many of us have heard of that before. I can always say I am always on the late train. I can never be early even if my life depended on it. That is not good at all, like really needs to stop being such a babit. My sister always tells me that because she is the one who watches the times I go out and what time I come home when I go out. I live in a two story house and at times it is not good to have a two story house when you are trying to sneak in. One night I stayed out till about four in the morning. I got dropped off by my boyfriend at the time, I walked to my front door and it was locked. I went to the back door and it was the same thing locked. I had no way of getting into my house but by having to go through a doggy door. I had to go through my dogs door just to get into my house. I was lucky to have the garage door open, my house was dark no one was awake. I felt lucky because I was not going to get caught. I did an I Love Lucy move with a "Slowly I step, step by step, inch by icnh" i went through my firts living room. I walked through the kitchen and I heard someone coming downstairs and it was my dad coming for a glass of water. I had to duck down and i went all around the counter so he would not see me. He then turned off the light and went upstairs. I popped up once he left and I continued my step by step process. I went through my living room and my older brother was there playing video games. I had to crawl on the floor so he would not see me, he did not turn around at all. I was going up the stairs and and I knew I was almost there. I got to the top of my stairs and then a light from the bottom of the stairs turn on. I ran into the bathroom because my brother was coming upstairs. He had walked into his room. I got out of the bathroom and went into the hallway. I thought my room had to be the last room in the hallway. So I kept on walking very slowly creepier murder status. I was about to open my door but I had to do a big victory dance because I had made into my room without getting caught. Then the lights went on in my hallway. My sister came out and said your early if your five minutes early, your late if your on time then she said I have no phone for a day. She went into her room. I got caught at the end. My sister ratted me out to my parents and I was so in trouble. I had no life for a month. Never again haha.

Oh No What Was She Thinking...

Relationships are all about having your own type. We all know the common quote “oh you are not my type”. I believe people have types it can be from any kind of type like being cute, smart, family person, church type, sexual type, needy type, job loving types, the lazy type, and many more types. There are many people who think differently, some people just like how the significant other treats them. Some like that they go to church and are into family. That is just some people that are who they like. I can say for me my types of guys are the ones who are outgoing, can be the family type, are nice to me, and know what he wants to do in life. Before I did not care on what they had, I would look at looks only. If a guy was “not cute” I would not talk to him. I would say the guy was not my type because he was not cute enough for me. To me now I do not really care about looks as much as before, now I look at guys who have good things coming to them. I am not as picky. Many people like that type of guy and others do not. One of my friends likes guys who are the bad boy types. One of my other friends likes guys who are rich and are jerks. Everyone is different on the type of the people they go out with. I think it is because of their backgrounds with family and friends, it can also be religious. Everyone has their own taste in people they like. That is all up to them on who they want to like. I think what makes a guy like tall blondes it is their own thing that they feel attractive to. The same goes for women if they like a guy who is tall with a beard then that is what she likes. The only way to see if someone is not your type is by getting to know them, seeing what they are about. I once had a boyfriend who everyone thought he was not my type at all. They would say because he was not cute, he was a player, he did all this bad stuff to people, he treated girlfriends like they were doormats. I was this guy for about five months and I did not see any of those traits everyone said he was. He would call me all the time and he would be like a best friend. He did not treat me like a doormat like everyone thought. He was my type even though no one saw that. But I think everyone figures out what their type is after experiences with different people. I think people believe in types because the people they end up with are usually people who they might end up falling in love with and being with them. I think that is why we have types, it is like we in search for our soulmates. We find our soulmates by our types we like.

You Cant Tell Me Who To Marry!

After reading the story “Marriage is a Private Affair” it made me see how sad I will be to have your own father disown you for marrying someone he did not like. Reading this story, it reminded me of my uncle. I know this blog is on our parent’s views about us marrying someone they did not approve of but my uncle lived with me for ten years, he was almost my second dad. My parents will not get in the way of me marrying who I want. They will be behind me in whatever I choose, they will give me advice to try to help me out or what they think but they will never stop me from marrying whoever I want. They would keep talking to me and never disown me. But I cannot help to think of what my uncle would say and how he will never accept it. A few years ago, he told me to my face that if I marry someone who is not Mexican or is not in our religion that he will never accept him and that he will disown me as his niece. I am very close to my family and to have my uncle say that he will disown me if I married someone he did not approve of, it like broke my heart. We cannot tell who we will marry or who we fall in love for but to have someone tell you that they will disown you from the family for that it is a huge slap in the face. Just by me having a friend who is outside of my race, my uncle is very mean to them. At times he ignores them like if they were never there. If I was to bring a guy who is outside my race to my house everyone will accept him but my uncle. It is wrong that someone would do that to a family member. For my uncle, he will disown me for marrying someone outside my race and religion. He will not talk to me and I also think he will say things to me and my husband.
I have not been in a relationship with someone outside of my race, religion yes but I do not really have boyfriends. Like when I was in high school I had a boyfriend he was Mexican and Christian. My whole family is Catholic. I brought him to meet my family and the very first question my uncle asked him was his religion and my boyfriend at the time had said his Christian. My uncle got so mad that he told him to get out of the house and never come back. I thought that was so disrespectful because to my eyes what is so wrong with a different religion. I did not talk to my uncle for about a month. My boyfriend at the time did not want to be with me with a crazy uncle like that. My uncle believes his own thing, even his wife does not approve of what he does. He still lives with me and if one day I fall in love with someone who is outside my race and or religion as long as my parents, my brothers and sister accept him then that is all should matter. I say that because no one should tell me who and who I cannot marry.

War, Love, and Religion Umm Dont Mix

Without a doubt, it is good that the United States wants to bring freedom and democracy to the Iraq region. There are just a couple problems with bringing people to change religions, freedom and democracy it is not going to be easy to do all that. We need to be real about that, people here in the United States have not changed, let alone people in Iraq. I think it is a good idea to do that so people have the freedom to say what they want and what they need without someone pointing a gun at them. It would be such a great accomplishment for the Middle East to have freedom and democracy. At the same time having dozens of people change their views on something that they have known since they were born, it will not help much. That is what is not good about trying to change things because people are use to something and no one can change that. Our soldiers that are over there right now are trying to help but they can only help for so long. The United States and I myself would be happy for them because they are the ones who are in more need then we are.
There is just problems to do those changes. In the United States, yes we are free to be in any kind of religion. You can be anything but to some people religion is everything. One of my friends is Christian and he can only marry a Christian girl, while his in love with a Jewish girl. People should have the right to be in any religion, I do not see anything wrong with different religions that is what makes the United States different we have the right to say what religion we want to be. It is just that people in the Middle East do not want change. The people do not see what they can really be in life. When it come to democracy, for them to have an election like we did when Obama and Hilary Clinton were running or Sonia Sotomayor to become Justice, we all know those people were saying we are crazy to be doing that. In the United States, many people hate that Obama is president, imagine the people in the Middle East. This is something I think, many people might not think the same but before we fix democracy in the Middle East, we need to fix ours. Let’s say if a women it does not matter her race but she is well educated, and well qualified to be president she will be a joke to dozens of people. There was so much controversy over Obama not being qualified. The freedom for people in the Middle East is going to be one of the hard ones because they believe it is wrong to have same sex marriage, feminists, abortions, women to have more freedom and many more things. It is wrong for that to happen but to make people change that view it is going to take some kind of miracle. It is a good thing to change their freedom for example how the men in the Middle East treat the women like they are door mats to them.

Its Peanut, Butter and Gelly Time Part 2 Lol

I do not really know what can describe me, my nickname is Gelly. I turned 21 today and I am counting down the days to Vegas (2 days). Let’s see… I have a big thing about music that is like my bible. I have been into music since I was younger. Now I am into so many different types of music such as Lady Gaga, Dr. Dre, Aventura, Vicente Fernandez, David Guetta, The Fray and so many more artists. I think that is why my iPod is always in my ear. I have a whole lot of different music in my iPod. I think I am going to need a bigger one soon. No matter what everyone can always catch me with my iPod in my ear and my cell phone in my hand with my Coach purse that carries my makeup and a whole mess of other things. I am forever texting, I am so happy that Verizon created the unlimited texting a couple years ago. Coach purses are such a love to me, now it is time to cut back on buying Coach Purses. Not only do I like Coach Purses but I also love fashion, clothing. My clothes style has changed a whole lot. I use to be such a tomboy then I became such a girl because of cheerleading and dance team. Now I like fashion, I like dress up, then again my job makes me dress nice. I have a thing about shoes and boots. I do not really wear regular shoes like vans, actually I need find them. Fashion just became one of my interests when I first went on a field trip to FIDM a fashion school. Ever since then, I have liked fashion and the clothes. I cut up some shirts now and wear them. The style network is one of my favorite channels when I can watch it. As for other shows, I do not really get to watch television anymore but when I do it is always the same shows like Americas Best Dance Crew, The Hills, Cold Case, CSI Miami, Bad Girls Club, anything with George Lopez and Bill Maher. I like to watch these shows because I like a different vary of shows. Americas Best Dance Crew because the dancing is always good to watch. The Hills and Bad Girls Club dang girl drama on television is pretty funny. CSI Miami and Cold Case, those crimes get my attention. Bill Maher he speaks a lot of truth and George Lopez is one of the funniest people on television. I got into all these shows because they seem to get my attention. I think that is a good way to describe me.
To add on, I am a big fan of Lady Gaga. Her telephone song and bad romance song are two of her best. My favorite food is pizza and tamales. I like to smile, I think it all defines me by being a happy person and I can be a little political. I like that law and political. I have an open-minded. I like to give out ideas. I am an open-book when I am not shy and I know what I am doing with my school. I think all these things make me a good person, I do not think I am a mean person. All my friends say I am their Oprah. Maybe I can be later on haha.

Man Selfish! Lol

I have always believed that no one was selfish till I started to notice it a lot more from many people. I learned from my parents not to be selfish because it is not going to get anywhere. It is in some ways true, it is good to be give to the people in need, it is good to post signs for a missing dog. But sometimes you have to be selfish. At times it can be hard and other times we just do not care, for me I am selfish in my own ways. I think about other people feelings and I think of how selfish I will be if I do not consider everyone feelings. About two years ago, I was with a guy for almost a year and he had everything going for him. He knew exactly what he wanted to do, and how he was going to go to a good school and make it so he can survive in a time where the economy was bad. Towards the end of our relationship, it will be argument after argument. Arguments about everything from being at a party to just saying the wrong thing. Arguments would be over the most pity thing. We had got into an argument about him actually getting into UC Davis. I remember he called me and he was super excited and I was being selfish about the whole thing. His happiness to go to UC Davis went elsewhere after he had talked to me. I started telling him about us seeing each other, if he will have time and many more things. We decided to be together but he would be living in dorms. I did not like that too much. I did not realize how selfish I was being till I started to really think about. The only way to stop being selfish was to let him do what he had to do. He had to go to school and I had to stop being so selfish. I was bringing him down and as much as I did not want to let him go, I had to know I had to. I felt as if this guy was doing so much and he did not need any my selfishness. He needed someone to support him and all he does. I was not helping at all. After that event, I decided to change my ways, I have learned to be supportive and also not be selfish. My lesson was well learned after that.

Blog Number Two!

The various ways we respond to literature is some of us find it boring to read. We think a book or a good piece of literature is going to be boring, but once we start to read it, we find that this piece of literature is not as bad as we thought. In fact, it shows us a lesson about life, how we think that it should be done if it happens. Once we are interested in that piece, we get sucked in to the story. I remember the first time I read Romeo and Juliet I did not want to read the book but once I started to read more and more of the story, I was sucked in I finished the book in three or four days. There are times when a person might find a book beyond boring, as you read the book many people could say “Oh this book is a good one, it made me cry”. You read the book and your attention is elsewhere. You are not into the book and you read the book but your interest in it is nonsense. Some people including me when I am reading a book that does not grab my attention, I am not paying attention to it. I read the book but I am texting or doing something else so I do not have to read the book. If I was reading a book that my psychology teacher assigned me, I ignore texts and calls from everyone. The reason why I ignore everything and everyone is because psychology grabs my interest in every way. It goes the same for literature.
Our lives can change in so many ways if we read a good piece of literature. The reason why is because there are so many lessons to be learned and it makes you think critically and you can analyze everything. I read a book called the Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston. The main character teaches you what love is and how it feels to lose someone you love. It teaches you to stick up for yourself no matter if you are poor person, in the novel, a woman fighting to show she is an educated woman. You read the book and you start to put yourself in the same situation and you think you do not want to be like that. A person wants to live above that, in many ways you begin to understand and put yourself in the position of the character. You start to know the story and the characters experience. People start to notice their emotions in the story and they might have experienced the same situation. The stories teach you an experience and also a new challenged and they make you think outside the box. Once a person starts to critically think a story, they start to get more into the story and then start to put themselves in those situations. Reading good literature could and most likely will teach a new experience and challenge.

Literature

Literature to me does matter because without it we will be watching drama shows such as Bad Girls Club and Jersey Shore. I have seen good pieces such as the Notebook, it is a good book and it made me see love. We can put Twilight, it is a modern day Romeo and Juliet with a human girl and a vampire. In my Spanish class last semester, for a project the class had a choice to go see a play called Don Juan Tenorio. It was written in the 1844, it has a mix of Romeo and Juliet and teaching a man not to be selfish. Literature has a better meaning and it is to make everyone realize what the meaning of life is, it helps you see past experiences. There are many stories that have good views of any type of problem. A person has to be open to read it.
Many people have seen Romeo and Juliet, the story was written by William Shakespeare. Till this day I see the movie on Showtime. It is the newest version but it is based on the original story. Literature is written to give people a new thought of life. It is there to make someone realize new things. A person can get an understanding in the past time when literature was coming from the best. Literature can talk about war, love, happy, sacrifice, and life in general. I can honestly say I have not read much literature besides what I have read in my English classes but literature seems to grab much attention. Literature will help anyone learn new things and make you think further into a situation. Literature matters to me because it shows me how to experience life. Literature has a way of speaking from a point of view that anyone can possible relate to. Literature will inform a person of how life is, how to love, give a person a different point of view. It can help you change your view because you can read something and think I do not want to be like that. There are many ways reading and literature can make you see things differently.
In this class, I want to learn more about the literature. I want to read more of the literature that makes you think and importantly inform you of how times use to be. In some of the literature I have read has made me see differently. I want this class to help me see that reading any kind of literature is good to read and no matter how much it may sound boring it has a meaning to why it is and has been written. I see the world differently. I can be closed minded when something does not get my attention. I want to be able to change that in this class. I want to be able to read or at least know about Hamlet and Roots without it boring me. I know what they are about but I want to be able to read them fully. Just how I read Twilight without it boring me.
